A little bit about the grass pitches...
Pitch 1 - Hawthorn pitch sits in the shade of the old Hawthorn tree. This is the furthest pitch from the composting toilets (1 minute walk) but the closest to the car parking area. It is a 40 second walk to the shower and the wash up area. However, it is also the closest to the gate and therefore the easiest to walk to the honesty shop to pick up some supplies or swap a book. It has a hedge behind it for shelter and looks out over the fields to dartmoor. Sadly the settee under the tree is no longer there!
Pitch 2 - Corner pitch is nestled snuggly in between two hedges giving plenty of shelter. It is set in the furthest corner of the campsite away from the entrance and the track (40 metres). It is the furthest from the shower and wash area (1 min walk).
Pitch 3 - Hedgehog pitch, so called because when we were camping in the field for the first few months this was where all the hedgehogs lived. This pitch is probably the nearest to the composting toilets, but don't worry it still far enough away to not be disturbed by them. Its a short walk across the field to the showers. Its probably about the furthest from the track (1 minute walk). It has a hedge behind it for shelter and looks out North-West to the sunsets and the trees.
Pitch 4 - Pony pitch is half way between the showers and wash up area and the toilets. It is closest to the barn and the horse field and enjoys the sunrises and sunsets. This is the best pitch for horse and goat watching with an uninterupted view of their fields. It is currenty the least sheltered with no hedge (athough we are planting one). This pitch is probably the same distance from the track and honesty shop as Pitch 3.
Pitch 5 - Chestnut pitch is under the shade of a young Chestnut tree and close to the shower and wash area and probably the second closest to the track and honesty shop. It backs onto the track and has a wire fence between the back of the pitch and the track. There is no hedge but dont worry though, cars do not drive this far along the track.
