A little bit about Doris..
Glamping at Winscott Camping is in Doris, a vintage 3.5T horse box converted for living and travelling in. She was converted by an artist and her partner who poured love and attention into every tiny detail, from the hand painted tiles to the little carved animals. Her quirky, old cinema seating and WIlliam Morris wallpaper create a cosy unique vibe.
Her travelling days are now over and she has come to retire in Devon where she offers a little home from home. Unlike all our grass camping pitches, Doris has electricity. She also has a different entrance and car parking.
Inside she has a shower, cassette toilet, heating, a fridge and a smart tv you can connect to your 'phone if you want to use it. The sink only has a cold water tap so you need to boil water for washing up (she does have a hot shower though!)
She also has a fixed raised platform sitting out area where you can watch the sunrise and the ponies playing in the field. Don't worry, we have fenced her off so they won't be playing too close.
When we first moved to Devon in August 2022 we lived in Doris in the camping field whilst we were renovating the house. We loved our time living in Doris and this experience was one of the reasons we set up Winscott Camping.
The bed in Doris is a small double, slightly smaller in width than the average double bed, but standard length. It is 193cm (6'3") long and 108cm (4' 2.5") wide. It also nestles under the combe of the ceiling so because of the pitch of the roof there is limited head space at one side of the mattress.
When staying in Doris, you have a separate entrance that brings you up to the house. Park beside the hedge and discover the little secret entrance for Doris through the little gate cut into the hedge behind the tree. Get your self set up and relax in Devons glorious countryside.

You know you want to...
